The largest and fastest game fish in the Atlantic.

Cornwall has chased the tunny here since the early 1900s. We plan the days around them, and every one goes back!

Welcome to The Tuna Club

A waterside house, Shamrock (our tuna boat), and the time to use them both.

The Tuna Club is a private fishing house in Falmouth — built directly onto the harbour wall, with a bay window that juts out over the water and the Shamrock moored on our private quay adjoining the house.

A door in the harbour wall

Hidden, since the 17th century.

Falmouth is on the other side of the door. The harbour pubs, the Maritime Museum, the oyster bar — all of it is a few minutes on foot. None of it knows you’re here.

Briton’s Slip was a Crown warehouse for the Falmouth Packet Service in the 17th century, then a Navy depot for motor torpedo boats in the war. For most of its life nobody walked in unless they had business. It’s still like that.

The Charter

À la carte. One unforgettable experience. Tailored entirely.

The skipper.

A local’s knowledge of working these waters. He knows where the fish are, where the wind sits.

The chef, in residence.

Cornish provenance, considered cooking. Breakfast at the long oak table, lunch on the water, supper by candlelight.

The bluefin run.

Atlantic bluefin tuna run through Cornish waters in summer and autumn. Big fish, big sea, and the headline of the year. We’ll plan the days around them, the night before.

The House

Briton’s Slip. Vaulted, characterful, and very much on the water.

The house sits directly on the harbour. A vaulted living room under white-painted beams. A long oak table that fits everyone. Persian rugs, leather chairs softened by a hundred winters, and oil paintings of ships gone by. A wood burner that’s lit before you arrive.

Six bedrooms, with sea-glass views down the creek. An indoor heated swimming pool & Sauna. A terrace over the water for slow breakfasts. And, if you’d like it, a complete and gentle silence.

A Chef in the house

The best of the catch, landed a few streets away.

Lobster, crab and day-boat fish from the Falmouth quays — cooked in the house by a chef who knows exactly where it came from.

Supper is Cornish shellfish straight off the boats, dressed simply and eaten at the long table. Slow breakfasts on the terrace, late suppers by candlelight.

how a stay might unfold

From day one’s first pour to day four’s slow goodbye.

Day i

Arrival

& a long, quiet evening.

16:00

Keys at the door, fire already lit. A glass on the terrace as the tide turns. Supper at the long oak table — Cornish day-boat catch. Bed when you’re ready.

Day ii

First light, last light,

and the long sea between.

05:30 – 19:00

Coffee on deck before the sun finds the harbour. Out for the bluefin run in season, or for the mackerel and bass otherwise. Back at golden hour. A slow supper at home.

Day iii

Out on the tide,

back for supper.

05:30 – 17:00

An early start, the way the good days begin. Hours on the water, then dinner in town and a pint at the end of it. No schedule beyond the tide.

Day iv

One last breakfast,

and no rush about it.

10:00

Eggs and coffee on the terrace. The harbour is already working by the time you think about leaving.

Or whatever you’d rather

Bespoke · entirely

Every charter is built around the people aboard. We talk it all through the week before — the menus, the route, the pace.

The Boat

Shamrock. A characterful working boat.

The Shamrock is a navy-hulled fishing cruiser, sturdy and entirely at home in these waters.

She slips quickly out of the harbour and gets you to the water you want to be on, whether that’s the bluefin grounds in season, the Helford for a long lunch at anchor, or the sheltered side of St Anthony’s for an afternoon’s mackerel.
